Yr 10 FILM MAKING

PREP Write about the film making that you have done over the last two weeks. Add photos to support and illustrate your post.

Paragraph 1: Your production company logo

Write about how you made it, explaining the process and referring to the equipment - the Hue camera, the Mac,  the name of your Production Company, the sound effects.

Paragraph 5: Your views

How did you think that your production went? Were there any challenges, disasters or triumphs?

I worked in a group with Tom King, Jacob Lindow and myself we named our production company JCK productions. For our opening scene the filming of the production company logo we used the hue cameras which are cameras built specifically for capturing stop motion movies. We used a small boat we positioned the hue over the piece of paper which had a map of the world on it we then moved a small the boat and took a picture until out boat had the boat had crossed the map. 

For our table top filming we were given a number of different types of props which we had placed around the table much like the opening sequence of the 2 movies that we looked at for homework. We positioned the props across the table so that are story line was built up as the camera panned across the table because of our idea of a bank robbery and detectives we had various pieces of police equipment this helped us built suspense. We paused on the candle because it allowed us to edit in our title with the immersive view of the camera being engulfed in the smoke.

For out live action we moved to the back of the mansion we wanted to film at the back of the mansion because it allowed us to have the typical scene of an old fashion detective agent which is what we wanted to achieve in our film. We filmed the scenes were the criminal ( Jacob) was caught by the detective ( Myself). Once the detective had caught the thief the thief wriggled out of the Fawlty handcuffs the detective realised this and then shot the criminal dead.

When we were editing we had clear ideas of the sound affects that we wanted to add to the live action and table top filming we had already finished. In the production company logo we used the sound affects of a boat arriving at the dock s it had completed it circumnavigation of the globe. We added some of Ben Howard's Be alone to the table filming. We then added some dramatic music to the chase scene. Our film title was added over the blowing out of the candle and it was the "Ace Of Spades". We added the names of the director cameraman and the actors.

If we were to do this again I would have changed the table top shot because you can see my feet when the camera is being panned across the screen. I would have also added some sound affects of a bank robbery after Jacob leaves the bank. I would also have cleaned up the editing in the live action but we were running out of time so it was a bit sloppy. I think our ideas worked well and our camera angels e.g. over the shoulder ect were used well. I also think that our execution of the title sequence was good. I think both me and Jacob acted well and Tom was excellent at keeping the camera level so that we had the smoothest shots as possible. All in all I think that there we some bits that we should o better in next time but I think we did well considering it was our first time filming a movie.
